2 Oct 1940 – At 12.28 hrs a Ju 88 of 5(F)./122 departed on a channel recce sortie eventually reporting that it had not sighted any shipping between Dover and the isle of Wight[1]
3 Oct 1940 - 1(F)./122 recce sortie to east coast of England, aircraft lost in Pl.Qu. 2200 - 05 East – last distress call timed at 18.45 hrs CET. The pilot, Oberfeldwebel Günter Spanke (born 27 Jan 1910) was found washed ashore at Lyngvig on 2 Dec 1940.[2]

Afternoon sortie by a Ju 88 of 5(F)./122 reported no shipping in the area of the Channel it had searched.[6]
8 Oct 1940 – A single Ju 88 of 5(F)./122 reported 1 large and 6 small ships with a single escort off Dover.[7]
9 Oct 1940 – 5(F)./122 sent out a single Ju 88 on a midday sortie over the Channel – reported no shipping between Margate and Brighton.[8]
A further Channel recce and weather sortie was operated by 5(F)./122 starting at 15.00 hrs, this also reported no shipping sightings between Dover and the Isel of Wight.[9]
10 Oct 1940 – 5(F)./122 sent out a Ju 88 at 07.30 hrs for a weather and Channel recce sortie – this aircraft reported a number of small vessels in the vicinity of Folkestone and some shipping in Dover harbour.[10]
12 Oct 1940 - A Ju 88 (F6+VN), piloted by Fw. Werner Breese, of 5(F)./122 flew a weather flight encompassing the Thames Estuary and the Isle of Wight departing Haure Fontaineat 14.00 hrs and returning at 16.45 hrs.[11]
15 Oct 1940 – A Ju 88 (F6+AN) of 5(F)./122 flew a weather recce sortie to the Thames Estuary and the Isle of Wight.[12]

21 Oct 1940 - A Ju 88 (F6+TN) of 5(F)./122, piloted by Fw Werner Breese, was sent out at 07.44 hrs for a weather recce sortie covering the Thames Estuary and the Isle of Wight landing back at base at 10.03 hrs.[16]
25 Oct 1940 - 2(F)./122 despatched a Bf 110C-5 from Brussels at 1300 hrs on a recce sortie to the Rolls Royce works at Derby but the aircraft was intercepted and shot down. The pilot told British investigators that he was on a bomber escort mission with several other Bf 110 aircraft.[17]
A Ju 88 (F6+TN) of 5(F)./122, flew the early afternoon weather sortie to the Thames Estuary and the Isle of Wight, taking off at 13.10 hrs and returning to Haute Fontaine at 15.36 hrs.[18]

3.(F)/122 at Eindhoven sent the following strength return to Fliegerkorps IX:
