Formation and History. (Jul 43 - Aug 43)

Formed o/a 3 July 1943 in Italy as a component of Luftflottenkommando 2 to control air support for German and Italian troop and supply convoys in the waters off Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. The tiny Stab was probably located with headquarters Luftflotte 2 at Rome-Frascati. The air support usually took the form of fighter cover together with a few reconnaissance planes. The Stab was dissolved around 27 August 1943.[1]
