Formed June 1940 in Rome as Verbindungsstab Italuft Rom, then re-designated as above on or about 7 October 1941. Around April or May 1943, just a few months before the command was disbanded, it was again re-designated, this time as General der deutschen Luftwaffe in Italien. Endowed with the authority of a Luftgaukommando, the command was responsible for all Luftwaffe Flak and logistics in Italy and on Sicily and Sardinia. It was informally referred to as Italuft throughout its existence.[1]

15 Feb 43: Stab in Rome under Luftflotte 2.
Jul 43: disbanded at the end of July - most of the personnel were reassigned to Luftgaukdo. Süd.

Formed 1940-41 in Rome.[2]
3 Dec 41: He 111 crashed near Capri due to engine failure, 100%, 2 killed.
Feb 43: based at Littorio airfield along the Tiber in Rome.
2 Jul 43: Do 217F crashed at Bauer (Germany? Austria?) due to engine failure, 100%, 2 killed and 1 injured.
