Formed around the end of March or beginning of April 1941 for the attack on the Soviet Union that began on 22 June 1941.[1]
North and Central Russia
22.6.41: Tilsit area/East Prussia under Koluft Panzergruppe 4/Army Group North - assigned to support LVI. Armeekorps (mot.) (re-designated Panzerkorps in summer 1942) along a line of advance through Lithuania to Daugavpils/Latvia (o/a 1 July), then to the Luga area between Pskov and Leningrad (August). Transferred to the Roslavl area on the central sector of the Eastern Front o/a 14 September to take part in the drive on Moscow via Vyazma (October to December), followed by the heavy defensive fighting in the same area after the Soviet counterattack (December 1941 to March 1942).
22.6.41: Initially assigned were 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr.32 and 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr.41.
12.7.41: a Bücker Bü 131 belonging to Gruppenfliegerkette 13 crash landed at Fp. Vereteni, 20%, 1 injured.
28.7.41: a Fi 156 of Gruppenfliegerkette 13 was damaged taxiing near Lake Pyesno, 20%.
19.4.42: renamed Stab./Nahaufklärungsgruppe 2, possibly at Vyazma-Gradina to the northeast of Smolensk.
