Formed 1 May 1943 at Reggio di Calabria/12 km SE of Messina with a Gruppenstab and 13. – 16. Staffel by renaming IV./KG z.b.V. 1. Equipped with Ju 52 transports.[1]
Italy, Sicily, Sardinia and Germany. (May 43 - Oct 43)
3 May 43: Ju 52 ditched in the sea near Cape Farina due to engine failure, 100%, crew rescued.[2]
7 May 43: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed and burned near Palermo/N Sicily due to engine failure, 100%, 3 crew killed plus 2 passengers killed and 14 injured.
7 May 43: Ju 52 crashed and burned at Tunis, 100%, 4 killed.
8 May 43: Ju 52 collided with another aircraft while landing at Cape Bon/Tunisia, 100%.
9 May 43: 2 Ju 52s (incl. 1Z+FZ) from 14. and 15.St. reported missing on flight from Tunis to Reggio, both 100%, 1 KIA and 5 MIA.
11 May 43: 13.St. Ju 52 (1Z+CX) shot down by a fighter 10 km W of Milos in the Aegean, 100%, 4 MIA.
19 May 43: 2 Ju 52s from 15.St. believed shot down into the sea by a RAF Beaufighter while inflight from Rome to Elmas/Sardinia, both 100%, one crew of 4 MIA, the other crew picked up by air-sea rescue with 1 WIA.
Jun 43: departed Italy toward the end of May or beginning of June and transferred to Goslar/N Germany for an extended rest, refit and re-equipping.[3]
North Russia. (Nov 43 - Jan 44)
Oct 43: again operational, the Gruppe transferred from Goslar to Pillau/East Prussia in late October.[4]
7 Nov 43: Ju 52 crashed at Tallinn/Estonia due to engine failure, 65%.
9 Nov 43: 14.St. Ju 52 crashed at Riga/Latvia, 100%, 4 crew killed plus 14 passengers killed and 3 more injured.
9 Nov 43: Ju 52 force landed east of Tallinn after running out of fuel, 30%.
3 Dec 43: 13.St. Ju 52 (DR+WS) shot down by AA fire over Nevel/C Russia, 100%, 4 MIA.
6 Dec 43: Ju 52 crash landed in bad weather at Fp. Idritsa/100 km W of Velikiye Luki, 35%.
15 Dec 43: 13.St. Ju 52 crashed while landing at Fp. Pskov-South, 65%, 5 injured.
1 Jan 44: now based at Riga.[5]
26 Jan 44: 14.St. Ju 52 shot up by Soviet ground-attack aircraft 30 km S of Siverskaya, 10%?, 1 WIA.
26 Jan 44: ordered to transfer this date from Riga via Würzburg to Athens-Eleusis in Greece.[6]

11 Feb 44: 14.St. Ju 52 shot down into the sea 2 km W of Rhodes by a RAF Beaufighter, 100%, 4 MIA.
11 Feb 44: 15.St. Ju 52 shot down by a RAF Beaufighter in the Rhodes area, 100%, 4 MIA.
14 Feb 44: 14.St. Ju 52 struck an obstacle at Fp. Gadurra on Rhodes, 100%?, 4 injured.
19 Feb 44: 15.St. Ju 52 crashed in flames into the Gulf of Athens, 100%, 5 killed.
25 Feb 44: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed 7 km N of Fp. Iraklion on the north coast of Crete, 100%, 4 killed.
3 Mar 44: 13.St. Ju 52 accidently shot down into the Aegean by German naval Flak after being chased by a RAF night fighter, 100%, 3 killed and 1 wounded.
4 Mar 44: 15.St. Ju 52 shot down by a RAF Beaufighter while in-flight from Athens-Eleusis to Fp. Maleme on Crete, 100%, 4 MIA.
7 Mar 44: Ju 52 shot down by a RAF Wellington near Milos in the Aegean, 100%, 1 KIA.
13 Mar 44: 13.St. Ju 52 shot down into the sea near Rhodes by a RAF Beaufighter, 100%, 4 crew and a load of passengers all KIA.
13 Mar 44: 16.St. Ju 52 shot down into the sea near Rhodes by a RAF Beaufighter, 100%, Staffelkapitän Oblt.d.R. Hans Griebner plus a number of passengers KIA.
25 Mar 44: 16.St. Ju 52 reported missing over the Aegean while in-flight between Milos and Athens-Eleusis, 100%, 4 MIA.
Western Ukraine and Romania. (Apr 44 - May 44)
26 Mar 44: all or the main body of the Gruppe transferred to Lvov/SE Poland to help provide air supply support to Pz.AOK 1, which had become encircled by rapidly advancing Soviet forces and was withdrawing under conditions of constant attack in the vicinity of Kamenets Podolsk/SE of Lvov.[7]
31 Mar 44: 13.St. Ju 52 crashed into the sea off Gadurra/Rhodes while dropping life rafts, 100%, 1 killed.
10 Apr 44: ordered from Lvov to Zilistea/C Romania around 10 April to assist with the evacuation of Odessa and to reinforce the airlift capacity between Romania and Crimea.[8]
23 Apr 44: 16.St. Ju 52 shot down by Russian ground fire over Tighina near Tiraspol in Bessarabia, 100%, 3 KIA.
25 Apr 44: Ju 52 from the Gruppenstab crashed 5 km N of Galaţi in E Romania while on the return leg of a transport flight, 100%, Gruppenkommandeur Maj. Bruno Härtner killed.
1 May 44: now based at Călăraşi/100 km SE of Bucharest. Two weeks later the Gruppe returned to Athens-Eleusis with 15. Staffel detached at Megara/32 km W of Athens.[9]
Greece, the Aegean, Yugoslavia and Germany. (Jun 44 - Jan 45)
6 Jun 44: a pilot from 15. Staffel stole Ju 52 (1Z+GZ) and took off alone from Fp. Malemes on Crete and defected to the British at Tmimi/Libya.[10]
13 Jun 44: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed into the sea while in-flight from Athens-Eleusis to Fp. Gadurra on Rhodes, 100%, 5 missing.
1 Jul 44: 16.St. Ju 52 ditched in the sea 15 km off the east coast of the Peloponnese after 2 engines quit, 100%, 2 killed and 1 injured.
14 Jul 44: 15.St. Ju 52 crashed 1 km NW of Fp. Megara/Greece, 100%, 2 killed.
31 Aug 44: Ju 52 ditched in Eleusis Bay, 100%, 1 killed.
29 Sep 44: 15.St. Ju 52 shot down between Athens-Eleusis and Fp. Malemes/Crete, 100%, 4 MIA.
29 Sep 44: 16.St. Ju 52 force landed between Iraklion/Crete and Athens-Eleusis, 100%. Greece partisans then attacked and killed all 5 of the crew.
30 Sep 44: 15.St. Ju 52 shot down while in-flight between Athens-Eleusis and Fp. Malemes/Crete, 100%, 1 KIA, 2 MIA and 1 WIA.

1 Oct 44: 13.St. Ju 52 reported missing between Crete and Athens-Eleusis, 100%, 1 killed.
3 Oct 44: 16.St. Ju 52 shot down between Fp. Malemes/Crete and Athens-Eleusis, 100%, 3 MIA and 1 WIA.
4 Oct 44: 13.St. Ju 52 reported missing between Salonika and Athens-Eleusis, 100%, 4 missing.
5 Oct 44: 15.St. Ju 52 reported missing between Gida and Belgrade, 100%, 4 missing.
7 Oct 44: still at Athens-Eleusis, but departed 8 to 10 days later for Zagreb-Plešo, although it may have spent a few days at other airfields along the way.[11]
17 Oct 44: 13.St. Ju 52 reported missing over eastern Greece, 100%, 4 missing.
19 Oct 44: 13.St. Ju 52 force landed in the vicinity of Križ near Zagreb and the crew believed killed by partisans, 100%, 3 crew KIA and 1 WIA, plus 14 passengers MIA.
22 Oct 44: 15.St. Ju 52 reported missing while in-flight between Polykastron/Greece and Pristina/Serbia, 100%, 4 missing.
25 Oct 44: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed at Fp. Zagreb-Plešo, 3 injured.
25 Oct 44: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed at Fp. Zagreb-Plešo, 1 injured.
25 Oct 44: 16.St. Ju 52 crashed at Fp. Zagreb-Plešo, 6 injured.
30 Oct 44: 4 ground personnel belonging to the Gruppe reported KIA or WIA in fighting near Pripolje in Serbia.
9 Nov 44: 16.St. Ju 52 reported missing while in-flight between Zagreb and Skoplje/Macedonia, 100%, 4 missing.
18 Nov 44: 2 men from the Gruppe KIA and 1 WIA in ground fighting along the Rogatica-Sarajevo road in Bosnia. These people were part of the Gruppe’s ground servicing contingent that was forced to march with hundreds of thousands of others from every branch of the Wehrmacht all the way from southern Greece to Croatia through partisan-infested territory. For most, the trek took 6 weeks or more and involved frequent ambushes.
20 Nov 44: 3 men from the Gruppe KIA and 3 WIA in bombing at Rogatica.
2 Dec 44: now at Goslar/N Germany - ordered by OKL to hand over all pilots suitable for conversion training to fighters.[12]
30 Jan 45: Gruppe ordered disbanded this date by OKL.[13]
