Formed o/a 10 October 1939 by re-designating Stab/Aufklärungsgruppe 31 (Brieg).[1]


Western Germany

Oct 39 – May 40: with HQ 6th Army - defense along the German-Dutch border in the in the vicinity of Kleve.


Belgium and France

May 40 – Apr 41: supported 6th Army during the campaign in the West from 10 May, advancing along the line Maastricht, Liege, Lille area, Paris and Orleans, then defense of the Channel coast in Normandy.

10 May 40: Koluft subordinated this date: 7 Aufklärungsstaffeln (3.(F)/10, 9.(H)/LG 2, 1.(H)/41, 4.(H)/13, 2.(H)/41, 4.(H)/22, 1.(H)/23), Kurierstaffel 5, 6 Flak-Abt. (I./14, II./23, I./29, I./43, I./231. II./Flak-Lehr) and Ln.-Abt. 3 (H) (mot.).


Poland and South Russia

May 41 – Apr 42: with 6th Army, attacked the Soviet Union from 22 June via Galicia (SE Poland), Berdichev, Zhitomir, Kiev and then the Kharkov-Belgorod area.

21 Jun 41: Koluft subordinated this date: 4 Aufklärungsstaffeln (6.(H)/21, 5.(H)/31, 2.(H)/10, 4.(H)/41), Kurierstaffel 5, 3 Flak-Abt. (Flakregimentsstab 91 with I./8, I./9, II./241) and Ln.-Abt. 3 (H) (mot.).

1 Feb 42: Koluft at Poltava following the German withdrawal from Kharkov with 2.(H)/10, 6.(H)/21 and Kurierstaffel 5.

Apr 42: Koluft disbanded around mid-April. Its communications personnel and equipment were used to form Ln.-Betriebskp./NAGr. 7 (Signal Operations Company/Tactical Reconnaissance Group 7).
