Ordered formed c. 26 August 1939 at Mayen/25 km W of Koblenz with 6 aircraft for assignment to AOK 5.[1]
Poland?, West, South and North Russia. (Sep 39 - Oct 43)
Feb 40: named in a Koluft/AOK 12 operations order for “Gelb” (the forthcoming attack in the West) - Staffel responsible for flying a daily courier flight between all of the airfields in use by (H) and (F) Staffeln in support of AOK 12.[2]
18 Jul 41: at Iaşi/NE Romania assigned to Koluft/AOK 11.[3]
8 Aug 41: Fi 156 damaged taxiing at Soroki/W Ukraine, 70%.[4]
12 Sep 41: Fi 156 landed in a minefield near Dimitrieska (S Ukraine, but not located), 100%, Staffelkapitän Hptm. Suwelack KIA. His passenger was Gen.Oberst Eugen Ritter von Schobert (Kdr. 11. Armee) who was also killed.
9 Oct 41: W 34 bombed on the ground at Fp. Nikolayev/S Ukraine, 60%.
20 Oct 41: under Koluft/AOK 11.[5]
27 Dec 41: Fi 156 damaged taking off from Kshevka (Kahevka?)/70 km ENE of Kherson, 45%.
31 Jan 42: Kl 35 crash landed at Fp. Simferopol/Crimea, 15%. [6]
Apr 42: based at Simferopol.[7]
8 May 42: W 34 cart-wheeled while attempting to land at Fp. Dnepropetrovsk, 30%.
19 Jun 42: Fi 156 force landed at Yukhary-Karalas/S Russia, 80%.
Oct 42: transferred to North Russia with AOK 11 and assigned to Luftflotte 1.[8]
23 Oct 42: Fi 156 crashed at Fp. Tosno/54 km SSE of Leningrad, 100%, pilot and an officer from the Army both killed.
24 Nov 42: ordered back to South Russia, Staffel in transfer to Novocherkassk/36 km NE of Rostov.[9]
17 Dec 42: Fi 156 bombed on the ground at Fp. Millerovo to the west of Stalingrad, 25%.
14 Jul 43: Fi 156 crashed while taking off from Guty/64 km WNW of Kharkov, 30%.
Aug-Sep 43: possibly based at Zaporozhye. [10]
1-15 Oct 43: still in South Russia and possibly attached to Heeresgruppe Süd - renamed 12./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2.[11]
