Formation. (Aug 39)
Initially formed c. 26 August 1939 in Frankfurt/M. with 6 aircraft for assignment to Heeresgruppe C.[1]
West, France and North Russia. (Sep 39 - Oct 43)
26 Nov 39: Fi 156 stalled and crashed while taking off from Flughafen Rhein/Main, 70%, 1 injured.[2]
Oct 40: at Melun/France assigned to Koflug/Heeresgruppe D.[3]
Feb-May 41: ordered East for the forthcoming attack on the Soviet Union.
21 Jun 41: at Insterburg/East Prussia for the invasion of Russia. Subordination unclear, but possibly directly under Luftflotte 1. Other sources say it came under Heeresgruppe Nord on this date.[4]
2 Jul 41: reportedly now at Kaunas/Lithuania. [5]
7 Aug 41: Fi 156 crash landed at Fp. (illegible) in N Russia, 40%.
10 Oct 41: Fw 44 damaged taxiing at Fp. Sloboda (100 km NW of Orel?), 25%.
19 Dec 41: Fi 156 force landed near Novgorod due to severe icing, 30%.
27 Jan 42: W 34 force landed near Fp. Daugavpils-West due to engine failure, 50%.
Jul 42: provisionally assigned to Verbindungsgruppe/Heeresgruppe Nord along with Kurierstaffeln 2 and 12 (to Sep 43). [6]
Oct 42: N Russia assigned to Luftflotte 1.[7]
8 Oct 42: Fi 156 shot up by ground fire and force landed near Staraya Russa, 40%, 1 Army officer passenger injured.
22 Oct 42: Fi 156 shot down by a Russian fighter north of Novgorod, 100%, pilot and 1 Army officer KIA.
Jan 43: Staffel based at Pskov and attached to Heeresgruppe Nord; had 50 aircraft on strength (3 x Ju 52, 3 x Si 204, 4 x W 34, and 40 x Fi 156) along with 35 pilots.[8]
14 Mar 43: Fi 156 bombed on the ground during enemy raid on Fp. Kotly/35 km NE of Narva, 100%.
23 Apr 43: based at Pskov-West.[9]
26 Jun 43: at Pskov-West.[10]
14 Sep 43: a crew member from the Staffel reported WIA by a fighter in the vicinity of Razomukhino.
1-15 Oct 43: at Pskov/N Russia - renamed 14./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2.[11]
