Formation and History. (Jul 37 - Apr 45)

Formed 12 October 1937 in Dresden-Strehlen by re-designating Luftgaukommando 7 (Dresden) and, following the reorganization of 1 April 1939, comprised the territory of Saxony, Thuringia and Lower Silesia, which roughly conformed to the Army’s Wehrkreis IV. The Stab of Luftgaukdo. IV was sent to the central sector of the Eastern Front in November 1941 and on 1 December became Luftgaukdo. Moskau. Its territory in Germany was taken over by Luftgaukommando III effective the same date.[1]
