Luftgaustab z.b.V. 21

(FpN: L 00114)

Kommandeur:

Gen.Maj. Hubert Hartog (20 Apr 41 - 31 May 42)

Gen.Lt. Alfred Mahncke (1 Jun 42 - Oct 42)

Formation and History. (Apr 41 - Oct 42)

Formed o/a 20 April 1941, possibly at Laon/46 km NNW of Reims in northeast France, as a mobile supply staff on standby in the Luftgaukommando Belgien-Nordfrankreich area. Probably intended for the invasion of the Soviet Union, it apparently was not needed during the campaign in 1941 since there is no evidence of it being in Russia. In January 1942, it was still in northeast France, but around August it was reassigned to IV. Fliegerkorps and sent to South Russia for the advance into North Caucasia. On 25 September 1942, the Stab was reported at Gubskaya/N Caucasia, Maikop on 13 October, and then ordered to transfer to Yekaterinogradskiy, a tiny village along the Terek River between Soldatskaya and Mozdok, on 14 October. A few days later the Stab was renamed Nachschubführer IV. Fliegerkorps (Chief of Supply Services, IV Air Corps).[1]
