Formation and History. (Jun 42 - Aug 44)
Formed 1 June 1942 at Cherbourg/France by renaming Seenotzentrale (L) Normandie. Subordinated to Seenotdienstführer West (later Seenotdienstführer 3). Exercised tactical control over sea rescue assets deployed in Normandy from the Gulf of St-Malo east to the Bay of the Seine. Immediately following the Allied invasion on 6 June 1944, the Stab moved to Royan at the mouth of the River Gironde. Disbanded 19 August 1944.[1]
