Formation and History. (Dec 41 - Aug 44)
Formed December 1941 at Taormina/NE Sicily by renaming Seenotdienstführer Mittelmeer. Exercised control over all sea rescue assets in the Mediterranean under Luftflotte 2. Moved to Vigna di Valle to the north of Rome following the Allied invasion of Sicily on 9/10 Jul 43, then to Venice-Lido in Oct 43. Disbanded at Venice-Lido on 19 August 1944.[1]
