Formation and History. (Jun 41 - Dec 42)

Formed 5 June 1941 at Cabourg/NE of Caen by renaming Seenotdienstführer Luftflotte 3. Exercised control over all sea rescue assets in the Luftflotte 3 area, mainly along the coast of France, Belgium and Holland. Moved from Cabourg to Paris-Sèvres prior to the end of 1941. On 2 Jul 41 an Fw 58 belonging to it was damaged (35%) when it force landed at Bretteville/France due to engine trouble. Several months later, on 8 Nov 41, a Caudron C 445 light transport assigned to the Stab crashed near St-Jean d’Angély/125 km N of Bordeaux killing the 4 people on board. Renamed Seenotdienstführer 3 on 1 December 1942.[1]
