Seenotflottille 12
Formation and History. (Jun 42 - Aug 44)
Formed o/a 1 June 1942 at Constanţa/Romania and subordinated to Seenotbereichskdo. XII. Initially had four boats (Fl.B. 404, 408, 415 and 426), but by 1943 2 to 4 more had been added and the Flottille was deployed around the Black Sea, frequently moving from one port to another. Ordered renamed Seenotflottille 40 at Constanţa on 19 August 1944 but just a day later, before this could be carried out, the Flottille lost nearly half of its strength in Soviet air raids on Constanţa and several other ports.[1]
