Formation and History. (May 42 - Mar 45)
Formed May 1942 at Dieppe/N France by renaming Seenotbezirksstelle Dieppe. Subordinated to Seenotbereichskdo. II (Cherbourg). Directed sea rescue operations in the mid-Channel area centered on Dieppe. Ordered disbanded 19 August 1944, but this was not carried out until around March 1945. When Dieppe was evacuated the last few days of August, Seenotkdo. 5 may have withdrawn to Holland to reinforce sea rescue assets there.[1]
