Formation. (May - Jun 41)

No information as to exact date and place of formation found in the primary documentation, but a published source states that it was set up at Fp. Berlin-Schönwalde in April 1941. [1]


Norway and South Russia. (c. Jun 41 - c. Apr 43)

22 Jun 41: Fw 58 damaged in accident near Kirkenes/N Norway, 10%.[2]

10 Oct 41: Ar 96 force landed near Stavanger/SW Norway, 65%.

24 Nov 41: Norway directly under Luftflotte 5.[3]

1 Dec 41: Verbindungsstaffel 2 arrived at Heiligenbeil/East Prussia this date on a flight from Oslo with 7 Fw 58s.[4]

Dec 41: according to the Feldpost Directory, the Staffel was disbanded in late fall 1941 and then re-established in spring 1942 (25 Apr 42) with the same designation. This probably occurred at an airfield in Germany.[5]

18 Nov 42: at Pyatigorsk/North Caucasia under Luftflotte 4.[6]

Jan 43: now based at Krasnodar under Luftflotte 4. The Staffel had 4 Ju 52s and 4 Fi 156 Störche and had been attached to the Technische-Brigade-Mineralöl since the latter arrived in North Caucasia. [7]

2 Feb 43: Luftwaffengruppe Kuban issued orders for this unit, located at Bagerowo/Crimea, for 3 Feb 1943 as follows - He 111 start at dusk for Slavyanskaya on the Kuban Peninsula. Report after arrival to Ia op 1 Luftwaffengruppe Kuban.[8]

Mar – Apr 43: disbanded.
