Formation. (Apr - Jun 41)

No information found in the available primary documents as to exact date and place of formation, but a postwar published source has a formation date of April 1941. [1]


Romania and South Russia. (Jun 41 - c. Feb 43)

Jun 41: assigned to Dt.Lw.Mission in Rumänien and active throughout Romania, Bessarabia and Moldavia.

15 Aug 41: Fi 156 crashed near Rathenow/72 km W of Berlin, 80%, 2 injured.[2]

16 Aug 41: Go 145 force landed near Kecskemét/78 km SE of Budapest.

23 Aug 41: based at Bucharest-Băneasa assigned to Dt.Lw.Mission in Rumänien. Staffel elements also attached to Luftgaustab z.b.V. 40 in southwest Ukraine until it moved too far East.[3]

17 Nov 41: Kl 35D landed at Fp. Tiraspol/88 km NW of Odessa.

5 Dec 41: Go 145 force landed at Kovin in the Yugoslav Banat due to bad weather, 70%, 1 injured.

Nov 41: ordered back to Germany and disbanded, with assets returned to the schools. Re-established c. 25 April 1942 for assignment in South Russia.[4]

19 Jun 42: man from the Staffel reported WIA by enemy fire at Belgorod/70 km NNE of Kharkov.

12 Jul 42: Fi 156 (W.Nr. 5667) damaged at Fp. Artemovsk/N of Stalino due to pilot error, 10%.

12 Jul 42: Kl 35 (W.Nr. 1875) 85 % damage due to mishandling at Taranovka/117 km E of Poltava; 1 killed and 1 injured. [5]

18 Jul 42: Fi 156 (W.Nr. 5175) 20% damage due to a taxing accident at Michedlowka (Mykhailovka/63 km WSW of Voroshilovgrad a.k.a. Luhansk). [6]

14 Sep 42: W 34 force landed at Kropotkin/64 km NNW of Armavir in North Caucasia due to engine failure, 40%.

Feb – Mar 43: disbanded following the German disaster at Stalingrad.[7]
